Airmail cocktail

I haven’t posted a cocktail recipe in a while, so of course I decide to right before I’m going on a two-week cleanse (self-prescribed, post-holiday).

This tasty drink I first ordered at Beretta, a pizza joint more famed for its cocktails that I am lucky to have four blocks from my house.

Watch out though – these go down nice and easy, and should be enjoyed with moderation. (A good goal, at least).

Airmail cocktail

  • 1 1/2 oz amber rum
  • 3/4 oz fresh lime juice (or you can cheat like me and use Nellie & Joe’s)
  • 1 oz honey liqueur*
  • ice
  • 1 oz prosecco
  • Angostura bitters
  • mint leaf

1. Mix rum, lime juice and honey in shaker with ice.
2. Pour into glass. Add prosecco.
3. Garnish with a few drops of Angostura bitters and a mint leaf.

    *Honey liqueur:
    • 1 part honey
    • 1 part water
    1. Mix over low heat in a small saucepot. I usually use immediately, but I imagine it could stay in the refrigerator for at least a week.

      1. This drink is SO good! Better when drunk out of a glass that has riverboats on it, but good nonetheless.
